MP Chet Greene Hosts Annual Appreciation Day for St. Paul’s Seniors

St. Paul’s MP E.P. Chet Greene has expressed gratitude to the many sponsors, volunteers and supporters who helped make this year’s annual appreciation day for senior citizens in the constituency a success.

In a statement following the event, Greene said dozens of seniors participated in the day-long outing, which featured sightseeing, entertainment and fellowship at several locations across Antigua and Barbuda.

The seniors visited Dennis Bar and Tamarind Hill Hotel at Fryes, the Ivan Rodrigues Reverse Osmosis Plant, the site of the planned marina development at Barnacle Point and Pleasure Cove at Runaway Beach, where they were hosted by Jason George-John.

Greene said the outing gave participants an opportunity to see firsthand the development taking place across the country while enjoying a day dedicated to recognizing their contributions to the community.

“Our elders are not just the keepers of our history; they are the very soul of our community,” Greene said. “Seeing them light up as we celebrated yet another special calendar date together was simply priceless.”

He thanked sponsors and donors, as well as caterers, transportation providers and volunteers, for helping to organize the event.

Greene also acknowledged the management and staff of Dennis Bar and Tamarind Hill Hotel, the team at the Ivan Rodrigues Reverse Osmosis Plant, the management of the planned Barnacle Point marina development and George-John for hosting the seniors during the excursion.

Entertainment was provided by calypsonians Spider-Man, Rover, Faithful, Dr. Paul and Lyrical Reds, with soca artiste Claudette Peters making a special appearance.

Greene said the annual event reflected the strong bond between the St. Paul’s community and its senior citizens and thanked everyone who contributed to making the celebration possible.
