Antigua and Barbuda Participates in Community Resilience Regional Conference

Antigua and Barbuda is being represented at the 2nd annual Community Resilience Regional Conference now taking place in Barbados under the theme “Advancing Sustainable Community Resilience through Shared Responsibility”.
Director of the National Office of Disaster Services (NODS) Sherrod James is leading the local team and was among members of a high-level panel at the meeting.
Also at the conference are District Disaster Coordinator for St. John’s City South Marcus Scott and Strategic Operations and Project Implementation Manager in the Social Policy Unit in the Ministry of Social Transformation Kimbalie Constant.
The July 15 -17 conference brings together disaster management officials from CARICOM member states, regional institutions, community leaders, youth representatives and development partners focused on building climate and disaster resilient communities.
It serves as a practical action-oriented platform to strengthen community resilience.
The conference is supported by the European Union, the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA), through the project Building Resilience of the CARIFORUM States to Disaster Risks and Climate Change Impacts (BRICS), Sagicor and the government of Barbados. – the end –
