Employees of the APUA Cooperative Credit Union staged a sit-in on Monday morning, citing a number of workplace concerns.

Office Manager Melissa Southwell declined to comment when contacted by the news team, ending the conversation shortly after saying she had “no comment.”

The APUA Cooperative Credit Union operates independently of the Antigua Public Utilities Authority’s management. It is owned by APUA employees, who are shareholders in the institution.

The industrial action comes just over a year after the Credit Union’s management and the Antigua and Barbuda Workers’ Union (ABWU), which represents the employees, signed their first collective agreement.

The situation is ongoing, with more details expected as they become available.
