Antigua and Barbuda Under-20 captain Keyonte George is reportedly set to miss next month’s CONCACAF Under-20 Championship in Mexico after being left out of the national squad for disciplinary reasons.

Sources familiar with the matter told NewsCo that the Germany-based striker will not be among the 21 players expected to be named by the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association (ABFA) ahead of the team’s departure for Mexico later this week.

According to the sources, George’s omission stems from an incident during a recent friendly match in which he allegedly became involved in a confrontation with Under-20 head coach Schyan Jeffers.

The sources said the disagreement escalated when George walked off the field and removed his playing jersey before the end of the match, leading the coaching staff to take disciplinary action.

Neither the ABFA nor George has publicly commented on the reported incident or his exclusion from the squad.

George captained the Young Benna Boys during their unbeaten qualifying campaign in Costa Rica earlier this year, helping Antigua and Barbuda secure a place at the CONCACAF Under-20 Championship after topping Group C without defeat.

The championship will be held in Mexico from July 24 to Aug. 9, with Antigua and Barbuda drawn in Group B.

The ABFA is expected to announce the official squad before the team’s scheduled departure on Thursday.
