SEARCH EXERCISE ONGOING AT PIGEON POINT BEACH FOR MISSING MAN
St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda, June 24, 2026
The police are currently involved in an active search operation at Pigeon Point Beach following reports that a man went missing while swimming in the area.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the individual, who is believed to be a resident of the Swetes community, entered the water for a swim earlier today.
Reports further suggest that sometime thereafter, he appeared to be in distress and was observed signaling for help. He subsequently submerged beneath the water and has not been seen since.
A coordinated search effort is presently underway involving divers from the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force Coast Guard, the Antigua and Barbuda Search and Rescue (ABSAR) team, as well as personnel from a private diving company.
The teams are conducting extensive searches of the surrounding waters in an effort to locate the missing individual.
The police will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as more information becomes available.
Members of the public are asked to avoid the immediate search area and to cooperate with emergency personnel as they carry out their duties.
