National cyclist Tahjé Browne is recovering after being struck in a hit-and-run incident while on an early morning training ride on Saturday, according to the Antigua and Barbuda Cycling Federation.

The federation said medical examinations and diagnostic tests confirmed that Browne did not suffer any broken bones, fractures, or major arterial injuries. He sustained several cuts and bruises, including a significant laceration to his foot, and received treatment before being placed under observation.

In a statement, the federation expressed gratitude to the medical personnel and emergency responders who assisted Browne following the collision.

“We are extremely grateful for the swift response and care provided by the medical team, emergency responders, and everyone who assisted throughout the day,” the federation said.

The organization also thanked members of the public, businesses, and supporters who offered prayers and messages of encouragement in the aftermath of the incident.

“Your support has meant a great deal to Tahjé, his family, and the cycling community,” the statement added.

While welcoming the positive update on Browne’s condition, the federation renewed its call for greater road safety and mutual respect between motorists and cyclists.

“Cyclists train on our nation’s roads every day, and together we all share a responsibility to make them safer for everyone,” the federation said.

Browne is expected to continue resting and recovering as investigations into the incident continue.
