Liberta resident raises concerns after reporting woman carrying knife

A resident has raised concerns about police handling of two reports involving a woman allegedly carrying a large knife in public on Friday.
The resident said they first spotted the woman shortly before 9 a.m. in Liberta. She was described as wearing a bikini top and jeans and standing near a fruit and vegetable stand while holding what appeared to be a large knife.
Concerned for public safety, the resident said they reported the incident at the Liberta Police Station. However, they claim that although an officer took their name and telephone number, no formal report appeared to be recorded.

A few hours later, the resident said they encountered the same woman near the entrance to All Saints. They alleged that she was still carrying the knife and was seen throwing a hubcap across the roadway while traffic was passing.
The resident then called 911 and was transferred to the All Saints Police Station, where officers were given directions to the woman’s location.
According to the resident, they later returned to the Liberta Police Station to provide an update but again observed no notes being taken and said the officer did not request any additional information.
The claims have not been independently verified, and it remains unclear whether police located or spoke with the woman.
The resident said they contacted the media out of concern that a potentially dangerous situation may not have received sufficient attention.
