Senator Kendra Beazer Hosts British High Commissioner on Barbuda Visit

Senator Kendra Beazer says Barbuda’s resilience, sustainability initiatives and community development efforts were highlighted during a visit by the British Resident High Commissioner to Antigua and Barbuda as preparations continue for the 2026 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).
Beazer hosted the High Commissioner on the island and led a series of engagements designed to showcase Barbuda’s progress and potential. The itinerary included meetings with local farmers focused on food security and livelihoods, a visit to Sir McChesney George Secondary School, tours of environmental restoration projects at Palmetto Point and Coco Point, and a stop at the Hannah Thomas Hospital.
The delegation also met with community members and local leaders during the visit.

According to Beazer, the tour highlighted Barbuda’s efforts in agriculture, environmental stewardship, coastal restoration, reef protection and biodiversity conservation while demonstrating the island’s readiness to welcome international attention during CHOGM later this year.
The senator said the visit reaffirmed Barbuda’s role as a model of sustainability and resilience within the Commonwealth and underscored the importance of building partnerships that support climate resilience, community empowerment and long-term development.
