Funeral Service for Mary-Clare Hurst Set for June 2

Former Senator Mary-Clare Hurst will be laid to rest on Tuesday, June 2, following an official funeral service at SJPC House of Restoration Ministries.

The service, which begins at 1:30 p.m., will celebrate the life and legacy of Hurst, a former government senator, former Leader of Government Business in the Senate and longtime Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party official.

A public viewing will take place earlier in the day at People’s Place. Viewing for family and close friends is scheduled from 11:00 a.m. to 11:40 a.m., while members of the general public will be able to pay their respects from 11:40 a.m. to 12:40 p.m.

The service will be officiated by Apostle Dr. Stephen Andrews.

Hurst, who was born on Nov. 6, 1962, died on May 5, 2026, at the age of 63.

Tributes have continued to pour in from political colleagues, public officials and community members who have remembered her contributions to public service, tourism development, political leadership and mentorship.
