Antigua’s Kamar Thomas has won the feature 25K trail race at the AUA Rohrman Trail & Swim Fest, finishing ahead of a strong regional field.

Thomas crossed the line in 2:32:33, narrowly beating Trinidad and Tobago’s Michael Honore, while Jamaica’s Kemar Leslie placed third in a closely contested race. Guadeloupean athletes Willy Vaitilingom and Marius Urcel completed the top five.

In the women’s 25K event, Guadeloupe’s Christina Laurent took first place in 3:02:00. Antigua’s Margarita Fernandez finished second, with Trinidad and Tobago’s Patricia Sorias third.

More than 100 athletes from across the Caribbean and beyond took part, including competitors from the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Ireland and France.

France’s Benjamin Sanson won the men’s 4K open water swim, while Trinidad and Tobago’s Jacqueline Jodhan claimed the women’s title. Antigua’s Julie Esty finished second in the female category.

Local athletes also performed strongly in the triathlon events, with Tiger Tyson winning the Olympic triathlon. Elite Thomas secured the men’s sprint title and Sophie Bown won the women’s sprint race.

Organisers say the event continues to grow in stature, attracting international competitors while promoting Antigua and Barbuda as a sports tourism destination.
