Government Welcomes Scholarship Opportunities from the People’s Republic of China for Antiguan and Barbudan Students
The Government of Antigua and Barbuda, is pleased to announce the availability of several scholarship opportunities offered by the People’s Republic of China for the 2026 academic year.
The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Antigua and Barbuda has formally advised of two scholarship programmes now open to qualified nationals: the Dalian Maritime University Chinese Government Transportation Scholarship and the MOFCOM Scholarship Programmes.
Under the Dalian Maritime University scholarship, two Antiguan and Barbudan students will be selected to pursue Master’s degree studies in China. The scholarship covers full tuition, application fees, and on-campus accommodation, along with a monthly stipend and comprehensive medical insurance. The duration of the programme is two academic years. Applicants should note that international travel expenses are not included.
In addition, the MOFCOM Scholarship Programme offer a wider range of opportunities, including approximately 40 university programmes and one CSC programme across various disciplines. These programmes provide avenues for advanced academic and professional development at leading Chinese institutions.
Applicants are required to complete their applications online through the respective university portals or the designated scholarship platforms. For the Dalian Maritime University programme, the application deadline is April 20, 2026. For the MOFCOM Scholarship Programmes, the deadline for submission is May 15, 2026.
The Government of Antigua and Barbuda is responsible for submitting a diplomatic note with a list of recommended candidates as part of the formal application process. Accordingly, interested individuals are encouraged to apply early to allow sufficient time for national review and endorsement.
These scholarship opportunities form part of the ongoing cooperation between Antigua and Barbuda and the People’s Republic of China and reflect a shared commitment to capacity building, education, and human resource development.
