Tattoo and body-piercing artist Oszie Kelvin Russell, also known as “Mongoose,” will serve a reduced prison term after the Court of Appeal cut his sentence to one year and ten months, down from three-and-a-half years.

The adjustment followed a successful appeal by attorneys Wendel Alexander and Andrew Okola, significantly lowering the penalty imposed after Russell admitted to illegal firearm possession.

Russell had pleaded guilty to having an unlicensed 9mm Glock pistol, ten rounds of ammunition and a suppressor. The charges stemmed from an early morning police operation at his Lightfoot home on April 22, 2025.

Officers said that upon their arrival around 6:55 a.m., Russell attempted to throw an item from his bedroom window. The firearm was recovered, and a suppressor was later found during a search of the property.

The 40-year-old father of two was taken into custody and formally sentenced three days later, on April 25, 2025.
