Trial Date to Be Set in Friars Hill Road Crash That Killed Medical Student

A trial date is expected to be set for a man accused of causing the death of a medical student in a crash on Friars Hill Road, following a case management hearing scheduled for April 24.
Karim Edwards appeared before Justice Rajiv Persaud in the High Court on Friday, when the matter was addressed. Edwards, who pleaded not guilty last month, faces charges of causing death by reckless driving and reckless driving in connection with the October 23, 2022 collision.
The incident resulted in the death of Kenneth Mathew, who suffered severe brain injuries and died just over a week after the crash.
Another victim, Priyanjana Das, survived but sustained life-altering injuries, including the loss of her right arm, fractures to her left arm, and pelvic injuries.
Edwards is represented by attorney Wendel Alexander.
