Prime Minister Gaston Browne has positioned Kendra Beazer as a central figure in the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party’s push to reshape political leadership in Barbuda, describing him as a unifier capable of bridging longstanding divisions.

Speaking on the Browne and Browne programme, Browne said Beazer’s candidacy reflects a deliberate effort to move beyond what he characterised as years of political fragmentation on the sister island.

“He said that his thrust is to unite Antigua and Barbuda and to bring an end to the fragmentation,” Browne said, adding that Beazer’s perspective carries weight given his prior involvement in Barbudan politics.

The Prime Minister described Beazer as “a bright young man” and “a strident fighter for the people,” arguing that he represents a generational shift in leadership and a break from what he portrayed as entrenched political figures.

Browne also pointed to Beazer’s background and experience, noting that he has been active in public life and had previously secured strong electoral support at the local level. He added that Beazer’s candidacy aligns with the government’s broader vision of continued development and integration between Antigua and Barbuda.

“He will be the unifier… and make sure that we continue to support the advancement of Barbuda,” Browne said.

The Prime Minister framed the selection as part of a wider political transition, contrasting Beazer’s candidacy with that of long-serving representatives and arguing that the island is ready for new leadership.

He said Beazer is expected to play a role in what he described as a continuing “renaissance” in national development, positioning the candidate as someone who can help Barbuda take advantage of emerging economic opportunities.

The endorsement signals the ABLP’s intention to make Barbuda a key battleground in the next general election, with Beazer presented as both a political and generational alternative.
