ABLP Plans April Convention

The Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) is set to stage a convention in April 2026 after its recent electoral victory, which saw candidate Randy Baltimore defeat Alex Browne.
Prime Minister Gaston Browne announced the plan but did not specify a date, calling on party branches and affiliates to begin preparations.
The convention will confirm candidates for the next general election, constitutionally due in 2028, and elect senior party officials, including members of the executive and board of trustees.
All 17 branches are expected to meet ahead of the event to choose delegates who will vote at the convention.
Sources say a primary may be held in Barbuda to select a candidate, with several individuals already showing interest. Candidates for the 16 seats in Antigua have been identified and are expected to be ratified at the convention.
