APUA Workers Stage Walkout Over Pay and Pension Concerns

Employees of the Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) staged a walkout on Monday morning, leaving several workstations and gathering outside the utility’s headquarters at the corner of Independence Avenue and High Street.
The workers, accompanied by their union representative, began the demonstration at the Cassada Gardens facility before marching along Old Parham Road to the APUA compound.
Dozens assembled outside the headquarters as the protest unfolded, calling for a 10 percent wage increase, improved pension arrangements, and action on other labour-related concerns.
It was not immediately clear whether the action would disrupt operations at APUA, which provides electricity, water and telecommunications services across Antigua and Barbuda.
