Foreign Minister Greene to Engage Commonwealth Leaders and Diaspora During UK visit

Visit to the United Kingdom, 8 – 10th March, 2026
St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda – The Honourable E.P. Chet Greene, Minister of Foreign
Affairs, Trade and Barbuda Affairs, will travel to London, United Kingdom, from 8th to 10th
March, 2026, to participate in a series of high – level Commonwealth and UK – Caribbean
Foreign Ministers engagements.
Minister Greene will attend the 2026 Commonwealth Foreign Ministers Meeting (CFAMM)
on Sunday, 8th March,where he will moderate the Executive Retreat of Commonwealth
Foreign Ministers. During the meeting, the Minister will also provide an update on Antigua
and Barbuda’s preparations to host the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting
2026(CHOGM), which will take place in St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda, from 1st to 4th
November 2026.
Whilst in London, the Minister is also expected to hold several bilateral meetings with
fellow Commonwealth Foreign Ministers to strengthen partnerships and advance support
for CHOGM 2026.
On Monday, 9th March, Minister Greene will attend the Commonwealth Day Service of
Celebration at Westminster Abbey, followed by the Commonwealth Day reception.
On Tuesday, 10th March, the Minister will participate in the Twelfth UK – Caribbean
Foreign Ministers’ Forum, which will bring together Ministers of Foreign Affairs and senior
government representatives to discuss issues including trade, climate resilience,
financing for development, development partnerships and regional security.
Finally, the Foreign Minister will attend a Heritage Evening hosted by the High
Commission of Antigua and Barbuda in London, where he will meet members of theAntiguan and Barbudan diaspora. The event will also be attended by Their Excellencies
Sir Rodney Williams, Governor General of Antigua and Barbuda, and Lady Sandra
Williams, along with Antigua and Barbuda’s CHOGM Envoy, cricket legend Sir Vivian
Richards.
Minister Greene noted that the visit will help advance Antigua and Barbuda’s diplomatic
priorities while building momentum toward the successful hosting of CHOGM later this
year.
“Antigua and Barbuda looks forward to engaging with leaders and strategic
partners from across the Commonwealth in November. These engagements
provide an important opportunity to strengthen partnerships and update colleagues
on our preparations as we work to deliver a successful and impactful CHOGM,”
the Minister said.
The delegation will include Her Excellency Karen-Mae Hill, High Commissioner to the
United Kingdom; Ms Chantal Phillip, Minister Counsellor; and Messrs. Brent Scotland and
Caleb Gardiner, Second and Third Secretaries, respectively.
Antigua and Barbuda will host the Commonwealth’s premier summit for the first time when
leaders of the 56 member states gather in November under the theme “Accelerating
Partnerships and Investment for a Prosperous Commonwealth.”
