LETTER: Desmond Charles and Charlesworth Tabor Kicked Out. Who Will She Purge Next?

Dear Editor,
It’s time for Gisele Isaac and Jamale Pringle to go, and I call on right-thinking UPP supporters to rally together to make this happen.
Now.
Not three months before a general election.
Right now!
The UPP had a good run. Under the leadership of Baldwin Spencer, Lester Bird was defeated and the UPP secured two terms in the sunshine before the tide turned. Harold Lovell then tried his best, making it to within six votes of victory before resigning a week later.
Today, the house that Baldwin built has been stricken by disunity, disorganization, delusion and defections. Defecting from or abandoning the UPP is one thing, whatever the reasons. Even if we ignore that issue, no right-thinking supporter can endorse kicking longstanding party members out of the Executive without any valid reason.
I was shocked but not surprised to learn of the latest casualties of Gisele Isaac’s ongoing post-convention purge: Desmond Charles and Charlesworth Tabor.
Desmond Charles has been a key UPP strategist over the years, and made exceptional contributions towards the cause, from polling, to billboard construction, to directly supporting candidates when business community donations were few. Most, if not all General Council members are aware of this. Without Brother Desmond, the almost-victory of 2023 would not have happened.
Charles Tabor has also been with the party for many years, giving legal advice, standing on the picket line, supporting events, just keeping the faith despite the issues like many of us.

So what mortal sin caused their purge?
There is only one mortal sin in the UPP of today: failing to shut up and blindly follow failed leadership. This mortal sin is obvious to all who still listen to the filth and vitriol spewed from Crusader Radio against anyone who offers any constructive criticism, on any platform. No matter how big your reach or influence, if you question the obvious issues with the UPP leadership in any way, shape or form, you are on the firing line!
After all the bloodletting since the last UPP Convention, do Isaac and Pringle truly believe that further disrespect and disunity will strengthen the party they claim to love?
Does alienating a key strategist and major contributor make sense ahead of a critical by-election?
The answers are obvious to everyone but Isaac, Pringle, and the brain-dead acolytes who give them aid and comfort in resisting positive change.
To a majority of supporters, it has already become very clear that Isaac and Pringle have completely lost it. They have zero concern for the prospects of the party: not for its cohesion, not for its reputation, and certainly not for its political viability.
We must also ask what kind of “leader” would allow Gisele Isaac to continue steering UPP on course of division and destruction. Has the “UPP safe seat” Pringle inherited from the late Charlesworth Samuel gone to his head?
As others have already stated, Pringle owes his two victories to party loyalty cultivated by the strong representation of Charlesworth Samuel, not himself! This inheritance has been totally squandered by his ineffective representation and uninspiring leadership.
Our nation is calling for leaders who are unifying, strategic and seen to be capable of steering the ship of state, not those hiding behind Women’s Forum cult members or in the shadow of their predecessor.
Time is running out, and the final moment where change has a meaningful chance to deliver hope is almost upon us.
We can no longer tolerate “me nah move”, while Rome burns.
We must reject the gaslighting and pleas for “Little Black Boy” sympathy. Countless little black boys and girls have risen to competence and service in our twin-island state, striving for performance, not pity.
The time to make the hard decisions to secure meaningful change is now!
Over to you, Brother Lovell.
Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock…
