Surveillance footage and mobile phone evidence were presented in the High Court on Monday as the murder trial of senior Customs official Nigel Christian entered its eighth day.

Jurors viewed video showing a pickup truck travelling along Marble Hill Road, followed two minutes later by a silver car. A second recording from a nearby business, timestamped around 5:34 p.m., appeared to show a similar sequence. A photograph of a similar truck recovered from a mobile phone was also entered into evidence.

A police corporal specialising in digital forensics testified that he retrieved the recordings days after Christian’s death on July 10, 2020, collecting footage from the Chinese Embassy, a nearby business and a residence close to Christian’s home. He later examined two mobile phones, extracting a photograph and screenshots of WhatsApp messages.

Prosecutors allege the footage supports the account of a key witness who said he drove the accused — Saleim Harrigan, Wayne Thomas and Lesean Bully — to Christian’s McKinnons home and later followed them to Thibou’s, where Christian was found shot dead. His truck was later discovered abandoned in Cassada Gardens.

Clothing and other items, including gloves and a LIAT ticket stub bearing Christian’s name, were recovered during searches.

Defence attorneys have challenged the credibility of the Crown’s main witness, pointing to DNA evidence linking him to clothing found at the scene. An FBI cellular mapping expert also testified, with phone data said to broadly align with the witness’s account.

The trial continues Tuesday before Justice Rajiv Persaud.
