Orientation Programme for Ghanaian Nurses Continues with Ministry-Level Engagement

The comprehensive orientation programme for the cohort of nurses recruited from Ghana continued today with an in-depth session focused on strengthening their understanding of the Ministry of Health and the broader public health system.

Today’s session provided a detailed overview of the Ministry’s structure, hierarchy, and operational framework. Nurses were formally introduced to the organizational leadership, including the roles and responsibilities within the executive and administrative arms of the Ministry. The orientation also highlighted the function and coordination of community clinics, healthcare institutions, various technical and administrative departments, and statutory corporations operating under the Ministry’s portfolio.

The session was led by Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Teri-Ann Joseph, who provided strategic insights into the Ministry’s vision, governance structure, and service delivery model. Dr. Joseph emphasized the critical role that the Nurses will play in strengthening patient care, supporting public health initiatives, and contributing to the continued development of the national healthcare system.

Presentations were also delivered by representatives from key departments, community health services, institutional care facilities, and affiliated statutory bodies. These speakers outlined how their respective units function, how they collaborate across the health sector, and how the newly recruited nurses will integrate into their assigned areas of service.
