Senator Dwayne George Praises Finance Ministry After IMF Commendation

Senator Dwayne George has praised the Ministry of Finance for what he described as its “exceptional work and unwavering commitment” to sound fiscal management, following a recent positive assessment by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
In a statement, Senator George said the IMF’s review confirmed that Antigua and Barbuda was undergoing a significant fiscal turnaround and remained on a positive and sustainable economic path.
He noted that the assessment positioned the country for increased growth and stability during the current fiscal year, adding that it reflected disciplined management and effective policy execution.
According to the senator, the progress highlighted by the IMF was the result of the collective efforts of the ministry’s leadership and staff, whose professionalism and dedication, he said, had strengthened public confidence in the country’s economic direction.
He also commended the Finance Ministry for what he described as tireless service, saying its work was helping to lay a solid foundation for long-term development, resilience and prosperity for the people of Antigua and Barbuda.
The IMF regularly conducts Article IV consultations with member states, assessing economic performance, fiscal policy and structural reforms, and offering recommendations aimed at promoting stability and sustainable growth.
