Over Thirteen Pounds of Cannabis Seized at Airport Cargo Facility
St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda — Friday, January 30, 2026
The police have seized a quantity of cannabis during a joint drug interdiction operation conducted at the Custom Cargo Shed at V. C. Bird International Airport.

At approximately 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 29, police officers attached to the Narcotics Department and the Customs Enforcement Unit, carried out a routine search of the facility and discovered a cardboard box containing eleven (11) vacuum-sealed packages of vegetable material resembling the controlled drug cannabis.
The packages were seized and transported to Police Headquarters for further investigation.
The substance was subsequently weighed and amounted to 13.2 pounds, with an estimated street value of EC$79,200.00.
This seizure has been recorded as the largest for the year to date. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda remains steadfast in its commitment to disrupting the importation and distribution of illegal drugs and continues to work closely with its law-enforcement partners to safeguard the nation’s borders.
