Popular race car driver Jason Marsh, from English Harbour, is being treated in hospital in the US Virgin Islands after being injured in a racing accident.
The incident happened during an event in St Croix, where Marsh was competing. Officials say he sustained multiple fractures, including injuries to his back and neck, and remains in a serious condition.
The Cabinet has been briefed on the matter. Government spokesman Maurice Merchant said ministers have sent their best wishes to Marsh and his family.
He added that the government stands ready to offer support with healthcare needs and the recovery process, which is expected to be lengthy.
