Cedar Grove Man Remanded on Firearms, Drug and Assault Charges

A Cedar Grove man remains in custody over the Christmas holiday after being charged with a series of offences, including illegal firearm possession and assaulting police.
Police say Ogden Christian was arrested in St. John’s on Dec. 21 following incidents reported across several areas of the city, including Sir Vivian Richards Street, Joseph Lane, Camacho Avenue and Rose Street.
Christian has been charged with dangerous driving; driving without a licence or insurance; driving without the owner’s consent; possession of a 9mm Taurus pistol and 15 rounds of ammunition; possession of 453 grams of cannabis; possession of cannabis with intent to transfer; resisting arrest; and battery on police.
He appeared before Senior Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel on Friday and requested an adjournment to retain attorney Wendel Alexander. The matter was adjourned to Monday, Dec. 29.
Christian was remanded to prison and remains in custody pending the next hearing.
