Forbes Murder Trial Heads to Jury as Judge Prepares Final Instructions

The murder trial of Delano Forbes is expected to go to the jury today after Justice Ann-Marie Smith delivers her final instructions.
Forbes, 31, is charged with killing former Post Office worker Maurison Thomas on March 7, 2018. He chose not to testify, exercising his right to remain silent. Prosecutors relied on circumstantial evidence, including testimony from Thomas’ daughter, forensic evidence showing death from severe head injuries, and recovered video footage allegedly showing Forbes with the victim’s belongings.
Defense attorney Sherfield Bowen called no witnesses and argued the investigation was flawed, citing missing forensic evidence, conflicting testimony and unpursued leads. He urged jurors to find the case had not been proven beyond reasonable doubt.
Justice Smith is expected to charge the jury before deliberations begin.
