An 80-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint in Cashew Hill on Wednesday afternoon after three men attacked him and a shot was reportedly fired during the struggle.
Police said the victim was leaving his property on Peterson Lane around midday when three unknown men approached him. One of the assailants pointed what was described as a white firearm at the elderly man, triggering a confrontation in which a single round was allegedly discharged.
The man attempted to flee but fell, and one of the attackers reportedly kicked him in the face before stealing a dark-coloured cellphone in a brown case.
Officers later detained a Cashew Hill resident for questioning as part of the investigation. A spent casing was recovered at the scene, and a pink hoodie believed to be linked to the incident was discovered in nearby bushes.
Police say inquiries into the armed robbery are ongoing.
