Everton Jeffers Confirmed as Commissioner of Police

St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda, Monday, December 8, 2025

Mr. Everton Jeffers has been officially confirmed as Commissioner of Police of the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda.

His appointment took effect on November 21, 2025. Commissioner Jeffers, who had been serving in an acting capacity, succeeds Retired Commissioner Atlee Rodney, who proceeded on retirement earlier this year. Mr. Rodney, who now serves as Deputy Director of the Regional Security System (RSS), was appointed Commissioner of Police on November 25, 2019. He dedicated over forty years of distinguished service to the organization, including six years as Commissioner of Police.

Commissioner Jeffers, the 11th person to be appointed Commissioner of Police, also brings over four decades of experience within the Force. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated unwavering commitment, professionalism, and dedication to national security and public service.

In accepting his appointment, Commissioner Jeffers stated, “I am truly humbled to be given this task to lead this noble organization, and I can assure the people of this nation that I am committed to continue giving my best service to the nation of Antigua and Barbuda.”

He extended heartfelt thanks to his family, colleagues, friends, and well-wishers for their continued support during his tenure as Acting Commissioner. He also expressed deep appreciation to Retired Commissioner Rodney for his exemplary service to the nation and wished him every success in his new regional role.

Following Commissioner Jeffers’ appointment, Superintendent Louisa Benjamin Quashie was elevated to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police, effective November 21, 2025. Additional senior officers were also promoted as part of the organizational adjustments accompanying these leadership appointments.

The Police Administration congratulates Commissioner Jeffers, Deputy Commissioner Benjamin Quashie, and all newly promoted officers, and extends best wishes as they assume their new responsibilities in service to Antigua and Barbuda.
