Regional Leaders Attend Swearing-In of Saint Lucia’s Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre
Caribbean leaders, including Antigua and Barbuda’s Prime Minister Gaston Browne, attended today’s swearing-in ceremony for Philip J. Pierre, who began his second term as Saint Lucia’s prime minister.
Pierre took the oath of office before a gathering of regional dignitaries, among them the prime ministers of St Kitts and Nevis, Grenada, Barbados and Dominica, along with St Vincent and the Grenadines’ opposition leader. The event marked the start of another five-year mandate.
In brief remarks, Pierre said he was “excited and optimistic about the future of Saint Lucia” and pledged to “do my best for the development of my country.” He described the moment as one of humility and reaffirmed his commitment to overseeing finance, national security and justice, constituency development and people empowerment. “God bless our island Saint Lucia,” he said.
Pierre begins his new term as the government continues economic recovery efforts and advances policies on youth programmes, community infrastructure, fiscal stability and justice reform.
