Bristol described her deep sense of unease the night he left home and the moment she discovered the devastating news.

“I couldn’t sleep that night,” Bristol shared. “I was restless, calling his phone over and over, but it kept going straight to voicemail. I had this terrible feeling in the pit of my stomach that something wasn’t right.” Her worst fears were confirmed when she came across a post on Facebook showing the wreckage of the car her son had been driving. “When I saw the accident, I started screaming. I just knew.”

Britton, who had borrowed a friend’s silver Toyota Corolla, was driving along the Sir Sydney Wallings Highway when he lost control of the vehicle. The car crashed into a tree near the factory, and the impact ejected Britton from the vehicle. Emergency responders, including fire officers, used the jaws of life to retrieve him from the wreckage, but he was pronounced dead at 5:51 a.m.

Despite seeing images of the destroyed car online, Bristol held onto a sliver of hope until her brother, who had gone to the hospital, received a final, heartbreaking confirmation at the funeral home. “He called to tell me my son was gone,” Bristol recalled through tears.

Remembering DeAndre, Bristol spoke fondly of her son’s character. “He was a loving, humble young man—so close to me. I don’t know how long it will take for me to heal from this. The hole inside me is so deep,” she said, adding that the support from family and friends has been her only source of comfort during this difficult time.

Britton’s tragic passing has left the Cassada Gardens community reeling, as friends and loved ones mourn the loss of a kind and promising young man whose life ended far too soon.
