An inquest has begun into the death of 16-year-old Yenifer Brigde, whose body was found near John Hughes.
Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel of District B is leading the inquest, which started on Tuesday at a local funeral home. Family members identified Brigde’s body before jurors and the coroner.
The inquest aims to establish the identity, time, place, and medical cause of death.
A post-mortem examination will determine the cause of death.
Police suspect Brigde met a violent end and are investigating the case as a potential abduction, rape, and murder. Her body was discovered on June 28, a day after her two-year-old toddler was found wandering on Jonas Road.
