Suspended Superintendent Ray John and his co-accused, Shakema Charles, are expected to face trial in the High Court next week.

Magistrate Dexter Wason has dismissed “no case” submissions filed by their defense attorneys, paving the way for the committal proceedings set for January 29.

The pair, implicated in a passport fraud case, had sought to avoid a High Court trial by challenging the charges in the Magistrates’ Court.

The allegations involve a conspiracy with Vincentian resident Lonzel Jones to produce fake passport bio pages using unauthorized Multi-Layered Infilling Sheets.

Despite having earlier charges dismissed by Justice Tunde Bakre in March—who ruled that conspiracy cases could not be tried by a judge alone—John and Charles were recharged and brought back to court.
