In her remarks, the Governor General expressed congratulations to the appointees, acknowledging their diverse skills and experience. “Your appointment is a recognition of your skills, experience, and dedication to the ideals of public service and national development,” she stated.

Mrs. Chastanet, known for her extensive work in human resource management and leadership in community initiatives, was praised for her strategic approach to complex challenges. Mr. Benjamin, with a strong background in finance and governance, was lauded for his commitment to public service, particularly in disaster preparedness.

Mr. Philip, as Chairman, will lead the Commission, drawing on his expertise as a business consultant and his vast experience in project management and strategic planning.

The Governor General also reiterated the importance of the work ahead, emphasising that the Boundaries Commission plays a vital role in ensuring fairness and equity in parliamentary representation.

The Commission’s tasks are grounded in the Constitution of Antigua and Barbuda and guided by the Constituencies Boundaries Commission Guidance Act, No. 10 of 2012.

“Equitable representation, consideration of population distribution, geographic features, and community identity are key factors in the Commission’s work,” the Governor General explained.

She also highlighted the importance of periodic reviews, consultation with relevant authorities, and the use of data-driven analysis and technology.

In his new role, Mr. Philip will be tasked with ensuring the Commission’s work upholds the principles of impartiality and transparency, with a focus on collaboration and high standards of excellence.

The Governor General concluded her remarks by encouraging the new members to approach their responsibilities with seriousness, integrity, and a commitment to justice.

“May your work on the Commission be marked by success and contribute to the betterment of Antigua and Barbuda,” she said.

The appointment of the new members signals a significant step in reinforcing the democratic foundations of the nation as they undertake their critical mandate.
