Over $312 Million in Active Development Funding Projects Ongoing in Antigua and Barbuda

Antigua and Barbuda has been allocated $312 million for active development projects, according to the 2023 Development Partners Landscape Assessment for the Eastern Caribbean.

The comprehensive report, produced by the United Nations Resident Coordinator’s Office for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, maps ongoing development financing and its alignment with national priorities across the region.

The report highlights key contributions from international organizations. A $66 million loan from the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) will fund the Second Road Infrastructure Rehabilitation Project, enhancing the safety, efficiency, and climate resilience of the national road network.

Additionally, a $3.4 million grant from GIZ supports the implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) to promote low-carbon energy and transport solutions.

The European Union has also contributed approximately $2 million under the EUROCLIMA programme, focusing on climate change and biodiversity challenges.

The Landscape Assessment aims to improve coordination among governments and development partners, offering insights into how resources are being utilized to address pressing issues.

It also examines Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) targeted by active projects, providing a strategic overview of the region’s development financing.

This funding underscores a commitment to advancing Antigua and Barbuda’s climate resilience, infrastructure development, and overall sustainability.
