National Youth Awards 2024 Celebrates the Exceptional 18

The Department of Youth Affairs hosted the National Youth Awards 2024 on November 30th at the University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus.

Under the theme “Anchored in Purpose and Vision,” the event recognized 18 outstanding young achievers from Antigua and Barbuda, showcasing their excellence in various fields, including academics, arts, entrepreneurship, and sports.

The honorees included:

  • Amanda Bramble: Prime Minister’s Entrepreneurial Development Programme (EDP) Award for her exceptional business ventures.
  • Sophia Aflak and Elyzé Henry: Top Grade Six National Assessment (G6NA) Student Awards for stellar academic performance.
  • Uchenna Ohaegbulam and D’Aundré Samuel: Top CSEC Student Awards, recognizing their academic excellence at the regional level.
  • Aaron Gittens: Top CAPE Performer Award for his exceptional performance in advanced level examinations.
  • Ramique Mascall: Student Researcher of the Year Award, celebrating his commitment to academic inquiry.
  • Nicoya Henry: Young Artisan Award for her creative contributions.
  • Kendel Harrigan: Culinary Arts Award for his exceptional skills in the culinary field.
  • Keisha Knight: Agriculture Award, acknowledging her contributions to the agricultural sector.
  • Azara Lavia: Young Media Practitioner Award for her influence and creativity in media.
  • Kareem King and Desrie Markham: Culture & Performing Arts Awards for their achievements in music and the arts.
  • Jason White: Tourism Award for his dedication to enhancing Antigua and Barbuda’s tourism industry.
  • La’ Nica Locker, Ellie Shaw, and Kasiya Daley: Recognized for their exceptional talents in sports, earning Young Sportswoman and Young Sportsman Awards.
  • Amelia Beazer-Desouza: Barbuda Development Award for her efforts in advancing development initiatives on Barbuda.

The event was filled with celebration and inspiration, with each awardee embodying the nation’s motto, “Each Endeavouring, All Achieving.”

The National Youth Awards continues to serve as a platform to motivate and empower Antigua and Barbuda’s youth, highlighting their invaluable contributions to national development.
