The University of the West Indies Seismic Research Centre (UWI, SRC) has reported a third earthquake near Antigua and Barbuda on November 15, 2024, following two earlier tremors. The latest earthquake, recorded at 7:11 PM local time (23:11 UTC), had a magnitude of 3.7 and occurred at a depth of 18 kilometers.

The epicenter of this earthquake was located at latitude 17.71N and longitude 61.58W, approximately 73 kilometers northeast of Saint John’s, Antigua and Barbuda, 123 kilometers northeast of Brades, Montserrat, and 136 kilometers northeast of Basseterre, Saint Kitts and Nevis.

This marks the third tremor recorded in the area within a short span, following earlier quakes of magnitudes 5.0 and 4.0. All three earthquakes were shallow, increasing the likelihood of tremors being felt at the surface. While there are no immediate reports of significant damage, residents across the region are urged to remain vigilant.

The UWI, SRC reiterated that the reported data is preliminary and may be revised after further analysis. The public is encouraged to report any impacts to assist in the ongoing assessment of these seismic events. Authorities continue to remind residents to review earthquake preparedness measures as the region remains seismically active.
