ABEC donates to Breast Friends as part of yearly initiative to increase awareness among staff
he Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission on Friday made a special donation to Breast Friends, as part of its yearly Breast Cancer Awareness initiative.
In making the presentation of one thousand and twenty dollars ($EC 1020.00) to the President of Breast Friends Mrs. Eunetta Bird, Supervisor of Elections, Mr. Ian. S. Hughes, explained that Breast Cancer Awareness is one of the priority areas, which forms part of the Commission’s Health and Safety platform. He added that that the majority of the Commission’s staff is female and further explained that emphasis is placed on health and holistic practices.
He said that team members readily supported the initiative, which involved the purchase of pens, pins and wrist bands with all proceeds donated to Breast Friends.
Mrs. Bird, expressed her profound gratitude to the Commission for the timely gesture.
She further encouraged the staff to continue to familiarize themselves with potential symptoms of the disease, be supportive of those diagnosed with the disease and to make their health a priority.
“I want to thank the management and staff of the Electoral Commission for this timely donation. We are so happy for your support of Breast Friends and for choosing the cause that we represent, breast cancer awareness support and assistance. We will be good stewards of the donation and the confidence you have placed in us. Thank you all so much”, Mrs. Bird stated.
