Alfred Delice, of St Johnston’s Village, has pleaded guilty to manslaughter after initially denying a murder charge in the fatal stabbing of Steve Pablo Francis on July 14, 2021.
Delice claimed he acted under provocation during a heated dispute with Francis on a local playing field, reportedly over a woman. The altercation escalated when Delice allegedly used a screwdriver to stab Francis in the neck.
Francis was rushed to the hospital in critical condition and died a week later, leading authorities to upgrade Delice’s charge from attempted murder to murder. Delice is set to return to court for sentencing on December 6.
