The St. John’s Fire Station is set for a complete rebuild, with demolition of the current building and reconstruction funded by the Green Climate Fund (GCF).
Chief of Staff Lionel Hurst announced the project, noting extensive efforts to secure these funds, aimed at repairing infrastructure impacted by climate change. Construction of the new station will take approximately two years, with staff relocated to a nearby temporary site.
The GCF will also support critical renovations at three key clinics, including the All Saints clinic, which serves a large community outside St. John’s. Upgrades will address structural issues like leaky roofs and weakened walls, enhancing services for the population.
