The House of Representatives has passed the Misuse of Drugs (Amendment) Bill 2024, updating the Misuse of Drugs Act 283.

This bill aims to address rising crime by increasing penalties for cannabis possession and eliminating violation tickets.

Key amendments include banning public cannabis smoking and imposing fines up to EC $2000 for violations.
