16-Year-Old in Police Custody in Connection with West Bus Station Stabbing Incident
St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda, Saturday, 28 February 2026
A 16-year-old male of Bendals is currently in police custody assisting investigators in connection with a stabbing incident that occurred at the West Bus Station on Friday, 27 February, at approximately 2:30 p.m.
Police officers responded to a report of a male with multiple stab wounds who was transported to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre (SLBMC) for medical treatment.
Investigations revealed that the victim, 16-year-old Jakeem Benjamin, sustained several puncture wounds to the left side of his abdomen. His injuries are serious, however, his condition remains stable.
The suspect was arrested later that evening and remains in police custody as investigations continue.
The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda is appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information that could assist with the investigation to contact the Criminal Investigations Department at 462-3913 or call the Crimestoppers anonymous hotline at 800-TIPS (8477).
