SOURCE: CARIBBEAN LOOPNEWS- A 63-year-old pastor has been arrested and charged with multiple offences related to inappropriate contact with a minor.
Lawrence Turnbull was taken into custody on Friday, February 28, by the department’s Criminal Investigation Bureau.
He faces charges of child abuse, unlawful sexual contact in the second degree, obscene internet contact with a minor, harassment, and disturbance of the peace.
According to the police, “A minor reported to law enforcement that over the past six years, her pastor Mr. Turnbull, fostered a relationship with her, presenting himself as a mentor and father figure; however Mr. Turnbull’s intentions were not genuine.
He exploited her trust by engaging in inappropriate physical contact with her, despite her attempts to avoid him.”
Investigators report that the minor provided evidence in which Turnbull allegedly acknowledged his involvement in unwelcome sexual contact and continued to pursue her even after she expressed disinterest.
Bail has been set at $60,000.
