CEO and Chief Surgeon from Trinidad Eye Hospital, Dr. Ronnie Bhola, met with Medical Director Ag. Dr. Shivon Belle-Jarvis, Permanent Secretary from the Ministry of Health, Ms. Ena Dalso and SLBMC Board Secretary; Mr. Martin Camacho, to sign a two-year contract for the continued provision of ophthalmology services at Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre in Antigua.

Since 2019, Dr. Ronnie Bhola and his team have been doing cataract surgeries in partnership with the Ministry of Health with more than 800 cases being done to date.

This is a significant milestone for the Ministry of Health and the eyecare teams at SLBMC and TEH who have displayed renewed commitment and focus on reducing blindness from cataract in Antigua & Barbuda
