Three individuals have commenced associate degree programs on scholarships provided by the Antigua and Barbuda Workers’ Union (ABWU).
Kisha JeffersGomes, Hazel Luke and ABWU Executive Member, Roumelia Daniel, will be pursuing studies in Human Resource Management, Occupational Safety and Health, and Security Administration and Management respectively.
The courses are being administered online through Cipriani Labour College in Trinidad and Tobago. The three women are also beneficiaries of prior ABWU scholarships.
In 2021 they completed certificate programs at Cipriani College in their respective fields of study.
Kisha Jeffers-Gomes and Hazel Luke excelled to the Director’s Honour List, while Roumelia Daniel earned the Dean’s List distinction for her outstanding academic performance in the Security Administration and Management certificate course.
Daniel says although the academic experience was hectic, she was “determined to make the Union proud.”
Other recent scholarship recipients include ABWU President, Kem Riley, who pursued studies in Industrial Relations, and Executive Member Monique James-Roberts, who completed a program in Cooperative Studies/Credit Union Management.
Meanwhile, Fernando Samuel, another scholarship beneficiary, earned a Master of Laws degree in Employment Law from the University of Leicester. The Antigua and Barbuda Workers’ Union is pleased to publicly recognize the achievements of these individuals.
Union members are encouraged to take advantage of scholarship opportunities that are made available periodically as the ABWU seeks to strengthen the human resource capacity of its employees and wider membership.
