ABS: One of two men who reportedly broke into a business establishment on St Mary’s Street in the early hours of Easter Monday was shot by the proprietor and is now in critical condition in hospital.

The businessman, a licensed firearm holder, told police the alarm for his establishment went off and he rushed there to see two men inside.

He allegedly told the men to “freeze” but instead, one of the men shouted, “shoot him.”

The businessman then opened fire, hitting one of the men in the left shoulder.

The other man escaped and is now being sought by the police.

Investigators say their probe is at a sensitive stage and no further details can be provided at this time.
