Prime Minister Gaston Browne, marking the 10th anniversary of the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party’s (ABLP) election to government, highlighted the party’s efforts to heal divisions and foster unity across the twin-island state.

Browne emphasized the administration’s commitment to integrating Barbuda more fully into national life, rejecting past politics of marginalization.

The ABLP has worked tirelessly amid constant protests to advance Barbuda and ensure its citizens are included in national development.

The administration aims to transform Barbuda into a luxury and sustainable island destination with a well-developed property rights system.

Browne reaffirmed the commitment to maintaining Antigua and Barbuda as a successful unitary state with stakeholder ownership in land and other assets across both islands.

“We are striving to create a cohesive society where every citizen, whether from Antigua or Barbuda, feels valued, and where every community can thrive. No one will be left behind under the leadership of my administration,” Browne stated.

On the international stage, Antigua and Barbuda has been a leading voice within the Organisation of American States and the UN Alliance for Small Island States.

The nation has advocated for issues critical to its survival and prosperity, including the establishment of a Multi-dimensional Vulnerability Index to secure better support for small island states. Additionally, the country is using international law to seek justice for damages caused by climate change.

Browne acknowledged that the accomplishments over the past decade are not solely the triumphs of the ABLP but the result of collective efforts by businesses, workers, and citizens. He urged against complacency and emphasized the importance of maintaining the current governance to seize future opportunities for progress.
