Over 65 youth participate in Youth Empowerment Forum

Young adults between the ages of 16 and 35 are providing positive feedback to the first Youth Empowerment Forum hosted on Saturday January 7th, 2023, by the Hon Maria Browne.

The main objective of the all-day forum was to encourage the participants to take control of their own lives and create positive changes in their communities while developing the skills necessary for them to make the transition from adolescence into adulthood.

They were also exposed to several topics covering the processes and requirements for purchasing land in Antigua and Barbuda, Educational Opportunities, wealth management, the concept of an Antiguan and Barbudan entrepreneur, career preparation tips, the importance of mental and physical wellness, and many more essential life topics.

Speakers included Mrs Tracy Withy Browne from Goal Getters, Mr. Maurice Merchant from the Prime Ministers Scholarship Committee, Mr Troy Allen from LEEP Program, Ms Abby Haynes from CHAPA, Mr. Nikido Joseph from Ledger Solutions, Mr Carl Christopher and Mrs Marlene James & Mrs Chevonie Francis from The Harrison Center (ABICE).

One of the participants Maleyny Dessi, said that the forum was very informative and empowering as she gained a lot of information that she didn’t know before attending overall she found the forum life changing.

President of the SJRE Youth Group and one Organizer of the forum Imani Sinclair said that this is the first of many of its kind to come under the leadership of Hon. Maria Browne.

Ms Sinclair also thanked her team for working above and beyond to ensure that the forum was a success. During the forum Ms Sinclair also presented Hon. Maria Browne with an award to thank her for her outstanding and dedicated service to the youths of St John’s Rural East.

Over 65 youth participated in the forum that was held at the John E St. Luce Finance and Conference Center.
