Antigua and Barbuda Member of Parliament (MP), Daryll Matthew, has unveiled plans to demolish a half-constructed building known for harboring criminals in the Nut Grove area.

This decision follows a recent town hall meeting addressing residents’ concerns about escalating crime rates, including incidents of rape linked to the building.

Although political considerations had previously hindered action, structural assessments revealed the building’s instability, prompting the decision to demolish it.

Matthew aims to engage with relevant authorities and the community to explain the decision thoroughly.

Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner of Police Samuel Joseph advocates restricting access to the site and emphasizes the importance of community-police relations to combat crime effectively.
