GIS- NATIONAL HOUSING TO CONSTRUCT JUVENILE DETENTION FACILITY AT CRABBS
National Housing and Urban Renewal Company has been instructed to construct a Juvenile Detention Facility at the Defence Force Base at Crabbs Peninsula.
The announcement was made on Saturday by Prime Minister Hon. Gaston Browne during the Browne and Browne Show on Pointe FM.
The head of Government says there will be a focus on agriculture and other areas of skills development, as part of a thrust toward rehabilitation of the juvenile offenders.
The move is among a raft of measures in response to an uptick in criminal activities.
Attorney General and Public Safety Minister, Hon. Sir Steadroy Benjamin told ABS News this week that minors have been implicated in over 85 per cent of violent crimes nationwide.
