The Honourable E.P. Chet Greene signs the Ocean Coordination Mechanism MoU, bringing Antigua and Barbuda one step closer to a fully operational regional framework for sustainable ocean action.

Honourable E.P. Chet Greene, Minister of Foreign Affairs, signed the Ocean Coordination Mechanism (OCM) MoU, bringing the initiative closer to full activation with 13 country signatures. Only 4 more countries are needed to make the OCM fully operational.

Minister Greene emphasized the importance of these agreements, stating that the OCM is key to ensuring healthy marine and coastal ecosystems that drive sustainable, climate-resilient economies in the Caribbean. He reiterated Antigua and Barbuda’s commitment to fostering partnerships that will advance ocean-climate-biodiversity goals, especially as the region prepares for the 2025 UN Ocean Conference.

With the final signatures expected by year-end, the OCM is set to play a crucial role in shaping regional coordination on ocean issues.
