Lay’s potato chips recall now at highest risk level

The Prices and Consumer Affairs Division advises consumers of an ongoing recall of Lay’s classic potato chips  over undeclared milk allergen as Food and Drug Administration officials issued a Class 1 recall meaning  exposure to or eating the chips may have serious health outcomes. 

According to the manufacturer, Frito-Lay, this recall only affects the Lay’s Classic Potato Chips 13 oz. (368.5 grams) party size with the following details:  Product Description Size UPC, Code Date & Manufacturing Code and Representative Image 

Lay’s Classic Potato  Chips 13 oz. (368.5  grams) 28400  31041 Must have both“Guaranteed Fresh” date of 11 FEB 2025AND one of the following the Manufacturing Codes 6462307xxOR 6463307xx image

In December 2024, the Food and Drug Administration issued a recall for 6,344 bags of 13 oz bags of Lay’s  Classic Potato Chips. These recalled products were distributed in Oregon and Washington.

Considering the increased movement of people and goods over the Christmas period, consumers should check their pantries for  this product and verify the Code Date and Manufacturing Code to determine if the product is a part of the  affected lot.

Consumers with the affected product should discontinue use and return it to the place of purchase for a refund.
